Who We Are

CONTRIBUTORS

Jaycee DeLorenzo
I’m a wife, mom, writer, Romance Diva, voracious reader, blogger, web designer, and cover artist. I write YA, Upper YA (or New Adult as the term has been coined) and Adult romances whenever I have a free moment.  Why NA?  Because it's a fascinating age where my characters are trying to find that balance between being a teenager and being an adult, experiencing new freedoms, trying new things, struggling to figure out who they are and who they want to be, all while trying to balance the responsibilities that come with being an adult.

Victoria H. Smith
I'm a writer, blogger, and tweeter of all things twenty something!  I started writing stories featuring twenty something protagonists who were either in college or post college because of a gap I saw in the fiction market.  I've been going strong ever since.  My stories always feature kooky, offbeat heroines, a lot of love, and usually a little bit of magic.  I currently write in the romance sub genres of Contemporary, Urban Fantasy, and Science Fiction, but wherever my pen takes me is where I go next!

Carrie Butler
I daydreamed my way through college—until they thrust a marketing degree into my hands, slapped a summa cum laude seal on the corner, and booted me out into a less-than-stellar job market. Instead of panicking at the prospect of unemployment, I used my Midwestern logic to steer into the skid and point my life in the direction I really wanted to go: writing out those daydreams.

My debut novel, Strength, is now available from Sapphire Star Publishing.

Summer Lane
I'm the author of the national bestselling YA/NA Romantic Adventure, State of Emergency, the first installment in the Collapse Series. I'm also a freelance writer, publicist and creative writing teacher. I authored Snappy Social Networking: How to Dominate the Blogosphere & Everything in Between. In my spare time, I'm the creator of the online magazine/blog, Writing Belle. I love New Adult because it gives authors a chance to go on adventures with characters who are growing up for the first time.

The sequel to State of Emergency will be released June 28th, 2013.

Juliana Haygert
I’m a Brazilian girl who lives in Connecticut.I would love to be Wonder Woman, Cheetara, Elektra, Buffy, Phoebe, She- ra, Rose, a blood elf shadow priest, and other various kick-ass female from comics, TV series, movies, books and games, but I settle for—the less exciting but equally gratifying life as—a wife, mother, friend and a writer. My heroines are like the ones cited above and I also writes about the heroes who drive them crazy—and occasionally hot. Since my first stories, I wrote about 20-something year old protagonists without knowing it wouldn’t fit in today’s traditional publishing market. Nowadays, besides writing full time, I battle for the recognition of New Adult as a category.

L.G. Kelso
I've been a writer since I can remember. Stories, characters, and scenes are always playing out in my head. I'm in a constant state of narration and writing, even if I don't have a pen in my hand. I love strong characters, characters who fall in love through conversation and silence, and stories that take the unbelievable and make it relate-able. Fantasy and paranormal are my passions (what can I say, I grew up with Xena and Hercules). I'm also a car (everything falls together with the whistle of a turbo and rumble of an engine) and horse fanatic.

E.J. Wesley
E.J. Wesley resides in South Texas. He holds degrees in psychology and counseling, but prefers to examine the heads of fictional characters over the living ones. He likes his food and his stories spicy, and tries to give a little extra 'kick' to paranormal, horror, and the other genres he writes. In true Texas fashion, he is very neighborly, and enjoys chatting about books, movies, music, and family. He is the author of the Moonsongs books, a series of speculative paranormal action novelettes, with a Texas twist.

Lynn Rush
Driven to write, Lynn Rush often sees her characters by closing her eyes watching their story unfold in her mind. All of Rush's books are dedicated to Lynn, her namesake. Rush holds a degree in psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University and a master's degree from the University of Iowa. Originally from Minneapolis, Rush currently enjoys living in the Arizona sunshine by road biking nearly 100 miles per week with her husband of 16 years and jogging with her two loveable Shetland Sheep dogs.

COORDINATOR

Diana Long
Diana is a California native, Utah transplant. Married at the young age of eighteen, and a new baby at twenty, she jumped from childhood to adult pretty quick. Which is why New Adult is her favorite category. She can fantasize about what life could have been like, all the while being relieved she didn’t have to live the scenarios she dreams up for her own characters. As a mom to now two kids, she tries to squeeze time in for her long-time love of writing and reading in between playing Lego video games, cooking, sewing, playing chauffeur and referee, and keeping her family all-around happy.

 LIBRARIAN

Megan Rodriguez
Megan is an Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Culture subject librarian by day, but her alter ego is a pajama-wearing, cat-loving, bookie monster devourer of any New Adult book she can get her hands on. She also likes to make lists and go to junk stores. Her Kindle is permanently attached to her left hand, but her right hand is eager to compile lists of way awesome New Adult books, because her very most favorite thing to do is to share good books. Ms. Megan has recently relocated to the Midwest from New York City, is quickly re-acquiring an accent, and is dreaming of buying a motorcycle. She wants to thank the gals at NA Alley for the opportunity to join such an awesome team/project. :)
