Have you ever felt like you don’t belong here?

How many of us have ever looked at our parents/siblings/children and thought, ‘how are we even related’? How many of us have ever felt out of place, how many have thought, ‘I don’t belong here’. What if the answers are not what you expect them to be? Yet once you know you were right to question your existence, you find yourself still mourning the self you left behind.

Most of us have felt that way at some point in our lives. But my next new adult romance is a sci/fi that touches upon that. Two people who question who they are and even once they find the answers it still doesn’t satisfy. Knowledge doesn’t necessarily bring them peace, just more anxiety and heartache.

Shadow Wars- Homebound, begins here on Earth with two barely twenty-something year olds who have a rude awakening. They are not who or what they thought they were. Their future is not what they’d expected. Men not of this earth are trying to kill them, and they themselves are not human. Kind of a shock for anyone to take in. But the evidence is all too real for Veil and Nikki when people around them are dying while protecting them.

Through it all Veil falls in love with Nikki and she with him, but they can never be together. The fate of not just Earth but an entire galaxy depends on Nikki claiming her birthright. One she’d been ignorant of for all 21 years of her life. None of that changes the fact, she’s heir to a world that is older than Earth, and Veil’s destiny is to be her protector, her veil against the shadows. He has to be the one to place her on her throne, giving her into the hands of another. She must marry to gain the allies her planet desperately needs. It’s the only way to fight the war that is being forced upon them. The only way for him, for them both, to save everything and everyone they love. Veil’s got to give her up.

Nikki’s got other ideas.

  1. I think as writers we've all had the "on the outside, looking in" feeling from time to time. I can't wait to see how you address it in your upcoming novel, Victoria.
