Hi, everyone! Welcome to the 1st NA Crush Tourney hosted here at NA Alley! We are a version of The YA Sisterhood’s Annual YA Crush Tourney, and we would like to thank them for allowing us to host our own version of the tournament to celebration new adult book heroes!

Be aware there maybe spoilers in some of the advocate posts that support the new adult heroes. We’ve allowed the advocates to use excepts from their assigned NA Crushes’ books as well as other teasers, so just be mindful of that when you read the posts.

Matches will run for 24 hours, 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. EST every Tuesday and Thursday. Voting will only take place here on NA Alley, and the polls don’t allow multiple votes.

Please check out our “NA Crush Tourney” page for all up-to-date information regarding the Tourney, and last but not least, have fun!

Rule from Rule by Jay Crownover

Hey, y'all! My name's Jessica and I have a blog called Just a Booklover. Because I like to read books. (That was shocking, I know.) I'm the lucky chick who gets to be the advocate for Rule Archer in this tourney. WHO IS RULE ARCHER, you ask? Well, my awesome little NA Crusher, Rule Archer is the irresistible guy from a book called Rule by Jay Crownover.

Ever heard of it? Yes, no, maybe so? Here's the cover for ya:

And in case you haven't read the book and wanna look it up here's the Goodreads link: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17866388-rule

So. OBVIOUSLY I love Rule. I wouldn't be his advocate otherwise. But I should probably explain to you WHY I heart him. And why you should vote for him, too. Because your vote matters, my friend.

All right, I'm going to break it down here. Just know here and now that ALL QUOTES FROM RULE ARE IN BLUE, AND THERE ARE NO SPOILERS in the quotes. Okay? So no worries.

Oh, Rule. He is...

- Loyal; he's got his friends' backs.
"She's like family, and I don't like it when people mess with my family...Leave her alone, end of story."

- Tough; Rule can take care of himself, that's for sure.
"I am a fairly intimidating guy..."

- Protective; I think the quote I used for loyal could work here...but Rule's the best kind of protective. With Rule around, YOU ARE SAFE. No doubt about that.
"You want to harass someone, scare someone, terrorize someone, you might want to pick someone who doesn't have a pissed-off boyfriend waiting around the corner, preppy boy."
"If you think I'm scared of what your dad or anyone else can do to me, if it means protecting her, then you're in for a shock."

- HIMSELF 100% through and through; he doesn't care what anyone thinks, he does what he wants. "...he isn't anybody's puppet..."

- He's not a jerk, either. I'd hang out with him.

Rule has got tattoos. He also has piercings. But boy, oh boy does he make them WORK.

- As far as tattoos go:
"I had a lot of color and a lot of artwork decorating my skin and when I was naked it tended to be a lot to take in..."
"I had more inked skin than not..."

- And his hair...well, it changes a lot. But again--he makes it work. The guy is always. So. Freaking. HOT. He even had a Mohawk at one point...
"You look hot with a Mohawk, Rule..."

- I think his eyes are my personal favorite thing about him. They're light and...and they just...they just sound so fantastic...
"The blue in his eyes was all but swallowed up by the paler silver and gray."
"There were interesting shadows dancing in the silver depths of his eyes that I didn't know what to make of, but he had never looked more enticing than he did in that moment."

- And then there's this:
"There was no denying Rule was a good-looking guy, probably too good-looking to be honest..."

- And this:
"I know I'm all right to look at. I'm tall and tend toward lean and fit and I go to the gym a few times a week..."

- And, I'm sorry, but again--THOSE EYES!
"I mean I don't normally go for guys with all those tattoos and piercings like that, but oh my God, those eyes!"

- He's exceptionally attractive (i.e. HOT). I believe we have established this, yes? Because I have more quotes, but I also have to not take all day here...

- Oh, and he's tall!

Other stuff:
So, I made notes for this. Last night, actually. And I was sleepy and in the "other stuff" category, I wrote "SWOONY MCSWOONERSON." I don't know exactly what I was thinking, but I definitely know that Rule made me swoon quite a lot.

- Also, this is highlighted in my Kindle (along with many, many other quotes) and I wanted to share it with y'all for some odd reason:
"The ring in his lip was shockingly cold against my own; the rest of him was undeniably hot and hard." ;)

Some lines that made me swoon:
- "No, Shaw, not one, because they fucking weren't you. Ever since you walked out on Sunday all I've been thinking of is you."
- "All I know is other girls aren't you and that isn't cutting it for me."
- "I'm the one she spent her birthday with, I'm the one who makes her happy, and I'm the one who is ready to protect her from the creepy you keep shoving at her."
- "I kissed her. I kissed her so that she could feel my regret, my desire to do right, the way that she had a piece of me now and I wasn't letting go."

Rule is also a talented tattoo artist. You know, in case you were wondering.

So. Why vote for Rule? I just gave you...*counts* 18-ish reasons WITH examples. Rule's a freaking great guy. I wish he was real so we could be friends. And then there is what Shaw said...

"I loved Rule like it was my mission in life."

VOTE FOR RULE, people. Because of all the reasons I just gave you and more. Read the book, too, because it is the freaking best.

Matt from Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

Hello, fellow NA fans! Andrea from The Busy Bibliophile here. I've been blogging since August 2011 and focus on young adult and new adult novels. I'm here today to advocate for the most wonderful book boy of all, Matt Watkins from Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park. In fact, Matt is the reason I started my blog in the first place! I wanted the world to know about Matt, and what better way to do that than blog about him? I haven't done the numbers, but I would be willing to bet money that I talk about him and Flat-Out Love more than anything else on my blog. Now I have the opportunity to let even more people know about him, so I hope you'll see what I see in him. Matt is caring, kind, gentle, studious and sweet. He essentially takes care of his little sister since his older brother is travelling around the world, his father works all the time, and his mother is too mentally unstable to do it. He takes care of the people around him and could be considered the glue that holds his family together. No matter what's happening in his life, he always takes time to spend with his family, or Julie, when she needs a shoulder to lean on. He's thoughtful and incredibly romantic. He takes school seriously and he's super smart. He has a fantastic sense of humor and can turn anything funny. He's six feet tall with longish dark blond hair. He wears dorky T-shirts, but underneath he's got an amazing body. It's hard for him to share his feelings, so he tends to keep them under wraps. He's a bit of a nerd... Okay, he's a lot of a nerd. But don't you know, nerdy is sexy! He's not the bad boy that will break your heart or be moody all the time. He won't put you in danger or make you jealous by flirting with other women. He will treat you like a princess with all the respect you deserve. He will always put you first and make you feel capable, strong, smart and sexy.

Julie, who has a fear of heights, and Matt are on an escalator when she starts to feel dizzy.
“Julie? Julie?” She was aware of Matt’s voice, but it sounded foggy and unnatural. She could make out his green T-shirt as he turned toward her, slipping his arms around her waist and pulling her in as she started to drop. “I got you,” he said. “I won’t let you fall. Just hold on.” He held her tightly against his chest.
Later, after a knock-down, drag-out fight, a guilty Julie crawls into bed with Matt and apologizes profusely. He forgives her, and they take a quick nap. Once they wake, this happens:
Julie turned her head, resting her cheek against him and listening to his breathing. His voice was soothing, his touch relaxing, and Julie’s pain began to lighten a hint. She didn’t know what to say, so she said nothing, staying where she was as his hand continued to move through her hair and then to her back. He lulled her into a place where nothing hurt anymore, and this whole dreadful evening started to feel like a nightmare that she was coming out of. His stroke traveled over the straps of her tank top, brushing against her skin, making her shiver and curl into him more. And then without realizing it, without thinking, she inched up just a little until her mouth was close to his. She had no idea what she was doing, as though she were following some instinct that she couldn’t control. Maybe she was still asleep. Maybe this wasn’t happening. She moved a tiny bit closer, barely touching her lips to his. His mouth was warm and tempting, luring her in. Neither of them moved.

Then his hand was firmly on her side, guiding her body up higher and bringing her mouth closer to his. Matt pressed his lips against hers and he kissed her. His mouth was soft and unhurried. Teasing, even. His tongue just brushing hers and making her tremble. She kissed back, tasting him, breathing him in. Julie was dizzy, and shaky, and inundated with his heat. He made her temporarily lost, not able to see beyond the way this kiss felt. In the moonlit light, it was smooth, easy, instinctive. She moved her leg over his, bringing them closer together. She couldn’t possibly be awake. Her chest was pressed against his, his hand on her lower back, his fingers digging into her skin. She didn’t want this to stop.
In conclusion, if you appreciate the nerdy boy next door over the over-rated bad boy, then click here and vote for Matt! He needs you to stand up for the nice guys so we can prove that nice guys don't finish last!
