  1. I'd love a definition of new adult. My understanding is, it has older protags, no longer in High School, much sexier, with adult concerns. BUT I've also been told it is just all about 50 Shades of Grey for older Teens, meaning...all about sexy steamy love stories only. Would love a broader explanation. :)

    1. Hi Jackie. You can check our definition for New Adult on our "What is New Adult?" tab right under the blog header. I hope it helps. :)

  2. Hi Jackie! There are a lot of different definitions for what New Adult is, but here at Entangled's Embrace, we see it as stories with MCs between the ages of 18 and 24 who are moving into a world of adult responsibilities and trying to find their way. They may be in college, looking for that first "real" job, separating from their parents, searching for love--but it's all done with a sense of living it for the first time, as exciting and scary as that can be. It's a time of exploration, vulnerability, and endless possibilities. It can be sexy, and often is since there's a lot of experimentation going on at this time, but we're not looking for erotica.

    1. Oh...and NA isn't just contemporary. :) All genres can fall into this category if the MCs are 18-24 and are looking at their world from an "in between" time...ready to step out into adulthood and responsibility for the very first time. Just like YA fiction crosses all genres, NA fiction does as well. It's the state of mind and position the MC takes with them into their world. Does this all make sense?

  3. Will there be only 1 winner who gets a request for the full MS? Or will there be a second and third place?

    1. I think they won't limit to 1 or 2 winners - if they end up liking 4, 5 pitches, they will asked for all of them, and all requests will be for full MS.

  4. Such a great opportunity! Best of luck to everyone who enters. :-)

  5. Is the word count an approximate (as in, if my MS is 53827, do I round to 53K?) or would the editors prefer specific?

    1. On their submission site, you'll find they mention between 40k-100k words.

  6. Hi! When the contest window opens, do we post our pitches here in the comments for this post? Or will there be a new post where we enter our details? Thanks!

    1. When the pitch contest post goes up June 5th, all you have to do is post your pitch (with all the info required) on the comments of that post. Not here :)
