Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Hey everyone!!!

This week has had some awesome news, yes? New featured book of the month, new releases, and guess what else?

I have a special treat for you all: AN INTERVIEW WITH TRAVIS MADDOX FROM BEAUTIFUL DISASTER (and the recent release Walking Disaster) by Jamie McGuire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Don't judge the !!!!!, they are totally legit right there ;) ) Ever wonder how Travis feels about pedicures or what was going through his head when Abby puked on him?

Without further ado, let's get to know Travis a little better, shall we?

LG: So, Travis, why did you feel the need to tell us your story?

Travis: Hey, I’m an interesting guy! *grins* I don’t know, I’m sure a lot of people feel misunderstood. I can definitely feel that way at times, and it’s nice to explain my motivations.

LG: I think you're right. What was your first thought when you saw Abby?

Travis: That I could see myself in her eyes. Something about her was so familiar. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I know.

LG: Have you ever had a girl who was just a friend before Abby?

Travis: No.

LG: How were things when Shep started dating America?

Travis: Like they always are when Shep gets a girlfriend: annoying

LG: *laughs* Did Abby become any less attractive when she puked all over you?

Travis: Maybe a little. For a second. But at that point it wasn’t just attraction. I was worried about her, and I wanted her to be okay.

LG: Now that's a sweet answer. So, what's the deal with you and Abby's wardrobe? Are you worried about losing control if other guys get too close?

Travis: It’s not that I want to control what she wears, I was just being realistic. I wanted her at my fight, and I was there to win money. I couldn’t afford to get distracted, and my jealousy is a huge distraction. I don’t like losing my temper. It just happens, and my feelings for Abby are overwhelming. I was trying to do my best and not be a jackass, so trying to be proactive seemed like the best idea at the time.

LG: Being distracted while in a fight is definitely no good. We, here at The Alley, obviously love things related to the college years. What did you want to be when you were little? Did you picture your life anything like it is now?

Travis: A firefighter. *laughs* I really don’t know. I didn’t really think about it. I was busy being a kid. Once it was time for me start thinking about a career, it just seemed natural to go into criminal justice.

LG: Did you think of Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox, or was that your fans?

Travis: Adam said it over the bullhorn before my first fight, and it just kind of stuck.

LG: What was the first fight you were ever in? What's the worst fight injury you've ever had?

Travis: You know, I don’t even remember. I’ve been fighting my brothers since I was old enough to make a fist. I’ve had a couple of broken noses, some cuts … nothing serious.

LG: Speaking of your brothers...you and all of your brothers seem to get along, but is there one brother in particular whom you are closest to?
Travis: Thomas. He raised me.
LG: Tell us three things you couldn't live without.

Travis: Abby. To find out the other two, you’ll have to read the epilogue of Walking Disaster.

LG: Oh, I will. What was the scariest moment of your life?

Travis: When I was searching through the basement for Abby during the fire.

LG: If you had to take a bubble bath or have a pedicure, which would you chose?

Travis: I’d do both. I’m confident in my manhood. I’d even wear pink while doing it!

LG: I bet you could make some money off of those pics. And, we can't forget the standard bad-boy question: motorcycles, cars or girls?

Travis: Abby. Abby all the way.

  1. I'm so excited to read this sequel! I tore through Beautful Disaster while on vacation in Sonoma, CA, and it stuck with me afterwards for days... Can't wait to be back in Travis' orbit.

  4. Ah, finally an interview with Travis: I can die in peace. :D I'm reading Walking Disaster at the moment - at a snail pace. Not sure I want to say farewell to the characters, and Travis *wink*
