Last month, tons of you turned out to help Entangled Publishing name their NA line, and we were so proud! Now, the time has finally come to announce a winner. Are you ready?
January 14, 2013- Entangled Publishing announces digital first New Adult line, EMBRACE, launching Summer 2013 with veteran YA editor Karen Grove at the helm. Karen brings more than 28 years of experience working with Young Adult authors at Harcourt and then Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to her new position as Editorial Director.

Here at Entangled, we look at New Adult as a perspective. New Adult is not Young Adult on steroids. And it’s not Adult with young characters. It’s a category of its own. And what defines New Adult, at least here at Entangled, is the unique point of view that an 18- 24 year old brings to the table. It is that perspective that drives the plot, the decision making, the joys and fears, the motivation, and, ultimately, the growth.

The Name-the-Line contest we ran on NA ALLEY received 269 suggestions,  which we then narrowed down to 10, then down to 4, to 2, and finally chose the winner. We chose EMBRACE because of its dual meaning: an embrace in the romantic sense (a hug) and in embracing the future. This keeps with Entangled's romance roots, yet encompasses the challenges of young people growing into adults. These new adults embrace their education, their work, their homes, their recreation, their sexuality, their world of possibilities.

The winner of the contest was Heather Self, a book blogger at Putting Pen to Page and author.

She loved Embrace for the title of the new line as she felt it fit in with the names of the other Entangled imprints but also signified what that time of life is--a time of embracing who you are as an individual separate from your parents; embracing who you want to be apart from high school "expectations."

Embrace will publish titles across all genres--romance, contemporary, historical, mystery, thriller, paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy—with protagonists between 18 and 24 years of age.

EMBRACE is currently seeking submissions for the 2013-2014 year. Please send submissions to

About Entangled Publishing:

At Entangled Publishing, we believe authors who write great books should receive a majority of the profits. We also believe authors interested in the lucrative indie publishing model shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality editing, commercial covers, or the power of a New York-style marketing machine.

That’s where we come in. Founded by industry-savvy authors and backed by a successful media corporation, Entangled Publishing utilizes a bold new business model to bridge the gap between traditional and indie publishing, giving our authors the best of both worlds. We implement the agency model across all departments at Entangled, which means everyone from the copy editor to the marketing director has a financial stake in your book.

In other words, we don’t make money unless you make money.  Come join the revolution!
Congratulations, Heather! You'll have to tell us all about the great NA reads you receive this year. :) Many thanks to Entangled Publishing and everyone who participated!
