Hey, all!  I'm back with another Feature Friday!  Before I introduce our new book, I wanted to announce that the winner of the book from Margarita Felices is Holly Leston!  You will be contacted shortly.

This week's FF is C.M. Brown's 2nd in her Protector Series, He Came For Mine!

He Came For Mine, Book Two in The Protector Series was recently released on October 1st 2012, and continues the story of Jazz and Sebastian's fated love affair.  Sebastian abandoned Jazz at the end of book one to return to his home world of Aidensdein, which was burned to the ground when Jazz escaped his nemesis, Brennan.  Seb is kept busy rebuilding the city and restoring order to his people.
Unfortunately, Jazz is left alone to transform into a part-vampire and deliver their child on her own.  Seb, of course does not know that she is even pregnant when he leaves her.  As Jazz tries to survive the changes to her own body and raise a young vampire, she finds herself being drawn into a relationship with someone who looks very much like Seb.  Can she trust this stranger, or should she be wary?

Describe your main characters:

The Protector Series is written in the first person in the eyes of two MC’s, a female (Jazz) and a male (Seb).  Jazz is tall, fit and muscular, she has dark hair and dark eyes and loves to surf and enjoys life doing typical teenage things. In the first book she is very young and seems easily led, a typical teenage girl.  As the story develops her character grows and she becomes stronger and more independent.

Seb is a strong character and a leader of both his team and his people and dislikes his orders being questioned. He is six foot tall with a rippled muscular body, dark wavy shoulder length hair and emerald green eyes. Seb was sent by the powers of his world to protect Jazz from all threats as she is the Chosen One. He becomes infatuated with Jazz and falls in love.

A third character I would like to introduce is Bliss.  She is a very good friend of Seb’s and during the story becomes close friends with Jazz.  Bliss is also tall with a strong athletic body.  She has blue eyes and long blond hair with streaks of black and red and has a lot of piercings. She is strong and intelligent with loads of charisma and charm, a tough personality and she is not to be reckoned with.  She values her friendship with Seb and Jazz and is the one true personality in the book, they both truly trust.

What was your favorite scene in your book?
It would have to be the fantasy scene as the group flies to the Sanctuary on the Pegasos Aithiopikos where the Aidensdein countryside is transformed into a magical landscape of unusual creatures, plants and flowers. The winged horses mysteriously seem to race across the surface of a crystal clear lake filled with colourful fish as they carry Seb, Jazz and their group forward to the religious centre of this vampire kingdom.  Mystically protected from the rest of their world the Sanctuary harbours the secrets of the religious aspects of Seb’s world.

What was the hardest part of the book for you to write?
I found the beginning of this book the hardest to write.  I struggled due to the fact that it was my first second book in a series.  I found myself wanting to continually add background info to the story and a lot of unnecessary matter which made the first two or so chapters boring.  With the valuable help of my critique partners I was able to change and improve those chapters to make the story better.
As Jazz is alone and abandoned in these early chapters, it was hard not to focus on her depressed state and make this part of the book dark, but with a baby involved I decided to channel Jazz’s state of mind into a positive direction and sign her up for a martial arts class, where she finds strength and a new man.

What compelled you to write your book?
I woke up one morning from a dream where I had envisioned the whole story and I decided to write it down.  From there it developed into the first book, He Came For Me and now I have just completed the second book and will begin writing the third shortly.

Now, about you in a few words (bio):
Living in one of the tourist meccas of Queensland and Australia, the Sunshine Coast, I spend my relax hours on the beach, enjoying an outdoor lifestyle. I have worked for many years in the area of Learning Difficulties supporting the literacy and numeracy needs of students in High School.  I try to put these experiences and the gained knowledge of my environment into my writing.
In my personal life, I am happily married and have two children in their late teens, one in the second last year of High School, the other at University completing a double major in Communication and Design.

What’s your favorite New Adult title?
I am not sure what people will think of this book as my New Adult choice, but I really enjoyed reading ‘The Host’ by Stephenie Meyer.

Why do you write New Adult?
By targeting my writing to a New Adult audience it enables me to extend further than what would be deemed appropriate for Young Adults. I enjoy the freedom of delving that little bit deeper into my characters interactions and engagements with one another and their surrounding environments.  I find it easier to have fewer restrictions or limitations in what I write.

What book is sitting on your TBR pile that you can’t wait to read?
Until Next Time by Amy Lignor from the Angel Chronicles, I love the cover of this book and I find the Blurb interesting.
…..‘From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.’

If you could have dinner with any author, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would be very interested in having dinner with Bram Stoker, the man fascinates me. Yes, I am drawn to the dark world of the vampire, but this man was brilliant and a dedicated writer. Before writing ‘Dracula’ he spent many years researching old Folklore from across Europe to incorporate into his novel.

He graduated with Honours in Mathematics and believed that science should play a bigger part in society, rather than it being controlled by superstitious beliefs. In the time period Stoker lived in, the world was strongly influenced by superstition and science was just starting to emerge into the forefront that it is today.

Here's the first book in The Protector Series
Having a background in theatre as a business manager and director of the Lyceum Theatre in London, travelling the world and meeting people like William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt and Quincy Morris among others, would make for very interesting conversation at the dinner table.

Your favorite quote from any book.
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will."
- Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre

What’s up next?
I am working on a story for a new book which involves vampires in the world of fashion journalism. Lol! It is still in the early stages and as yet I have not made any decisions about what it will develop into.  The third book in the Protector Series will also be an important focus for me, as I develop the next stage of Jazz and Seb’s story.
